Being Authentic

Last week I experienced true bliss attending a workshop on ‘Coaching Happiness’ with Robert Holden, Ph.D., author of Be Happy, Shift Happens, (just a few of his works) and happiness guru to Oprah. Really! His kind and generous nature allows me to share his teachings, as completing the course earns me the title ‘Certified Happiness Coach’. And initially, that is why I thought I was going…to become certified. And while I did receive that title, what I actually received was so much more…almost indescribable. I received the gift of learning who I really am, and what a gift that is. I recieved  confirmation in my own teachings.  I am as I should be at this moment…and at this moment I am qualified to teach happiness.  What I teach is from the heart, and that is the only confirmation I need.  I received peace, love, the love of others, and life-long friendships. I received the magic of spending time with like-minded people…fellow happy-spreaders!  wow!  There are others!  And while the experience was very personal, the main lesson for me was authenticity…being authentic.  In my opinion, that is the answer to most questions…does it feel authentic? Does it feel truthful and real? That one inquiry resonates with me so much, because the answer allows us to be who we truly are. It allows freedom, it allows wisdom, it allows honesty. It allows beauty. So, the next time you are in a quandary, ask yourself the question, does this feel authentic?  The answer will give you a gift. The gift is the real you. The real you only knows happiness. And while sometimes the answer may not be the one you want to hear right now, I guarantee in the long run, listening to your true self will provide the peace we all seek, the love we all seek, the happiness we all seek. Blessings of authenticity to all!
